Those people knew the risk that was involved when they took the job. They knew, but they did it anyway. They died doing something they love and they did it for science, for discovery and for many other great selfless things. They were truly corageous. I know it's hard to comprehend why things like this happen--I don't know why either, but I do know that we can't let fear guide our lives. If you don't take risks, nothing ever gets accomplished. These people took the ultimate risk, and lost, but they were willing to make it, and if we can learn anything from this, I think it's that we could all stand to be a little more corageous and take more risks in the name of great things in our own lives.
