That stupid thing... blah. I still don't know why it wasn't working. but i poked at it for like 3 hours. i got frustrated, watched a movie, came back, poked some more.
Didn't change a thing, came back, and it worked.
I'm hoping that it continues working, because if it stops, i probalby can't get it started again ;)
