Well, I have a lot more to say -- mostly along the lines of "Um, where was the rest of the story" -- but I didn't want to even come close to spoilers. *shrug*
There's no way they could have fit that whole book in the movie. And for once, I hardly cared about that, and usually that's the ONLY thing I care about when I see those movies.
